Batman Wanted Poster, Bane’s Gadgets Revealed

Rolling Stone gives some information on Tom Hardy’s Bane in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming Batman sequel The Dark Knight Rises. An article in the magazine gives a point-by-point graphic detailing why the muscle-bound madman needs a mask (and that could give away a key plot point, so be warned). And in a bit of marketing, Warner Bros. has released a wanted poster for the masked vigilante known as Batman (Christian Bale).

In the comic books Bane uses a rig to inject himself  with the experimental drug Venom, which greatly enhances his strength. Nolan’s version of the character takes a different approach. The director commented to Rolling Stone, “Bane is someone ravaged by pain from a trauma suffered long ago, and the mask dispenses a type of anesthetic that keeps his pain just below the threshold so he can function.”

In an earlier interview with Empire magazine, costume designer Lindy Hemming had said, “He was injured early in his story. Hes suffering from pain and he needs gas to survive. He cannot survive the pain without the mask. The pipes from the mask go back along his jawline and feed into the thing at the back where there are two canisters of what ever it is…the anesthetic.”
