I was shocked today to learn that actor Anton Yelchin, known for playing Mr. Chekov in the new Star Trek Franchise, has died after a freak accident on Sunday.
According to CNN, Yelchin stepped out of his car in the driveway of his Studio City home at around 1:10 a.m. PT when the car rolled backwards and pinned him against a brick pillar and a security fence, causing trauma that led to his death. He was just 27 years old.
Career
Yelchin’s acting career started with appearences on television series such as ER,Criminal Minds and Law and Order, and then went on to star in movies such as Charlie Bartlett and Alpha Dogs. He would become better known 2009, playing Kyle Reese in Terminator Salvation, as well Chekov in the new Star Trek Franchise.
His Star Trek director, J.J. Abrams posted this message on twitter.
