THE JLD

In the early 80s one of DC’s landmark teams underwent a major membership shift. The venerable Justice League of America would see most of its legendary team leave and be replaced with a roster of less renowned characters. To comic book fans this team would come to be known as Justice League Detroit, or the Detroit League.

Under the guidance of Gerry Conway and Chuck Patton Aquaman would dissolve the existing League and reform the team with heroes who could devote themselves full-time. Aquaman would be joined by Martian Manhunter, Zatanna, Elongated Man, Vixen, Gypsy, Vibe, and Steel.

While it may not be as highly recognized as the satellite era League, or the Grant Morrison Magnificent Seven League, the Detroit League does have fans who have some fondness for this team. Those fans, and readers who haven’t had the chance to read the Detroit era, can look forward to an Omnibus collection of their adventures coming out next year.

Justice League: The Detroit Era Omnibus will be an 800 page collection due for release on January 16th, 2018.
