Toy Fair 2014

Marvel unveiled their upcoming toy lines at the 2014 Toy Fair. Marvel looks to have their TV and movie properties well represented with action figures for the Avengers Assemble cartoon, Guardians of the Galaxy movie, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, although it looks like  the Cap and Spidey waves will have characters that won’t be in the movies, and the 3.25″ Marvel Universe line will continue.

There will also be some role-playing masks so that you can be Starlord or Rocket Raccoon. I’m looking forward to Halloween. I call Rocket Raccoon.

Venom and Sinister Six Movies In The Works

Electro Arrives

Sony Gets Sinister

Its been discovered that if you closely examine the trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, you would find in the image of Jamie Foxx as Electro a secret web address. If you click on the image and look closely at the diagonal beam of light behind the left side of his head, going up towards the right corner of the screen, an address that reads ElectroArrives.com.

If you go to the site you will find an animated image of Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn sitting over a tablet and investigating the Ravencroft The Max Dillon Experiment. There’s also a countdown on the tablet for something to happen on New Year’s Day. A good bet would be more footage and/or a new trailer being released.

Even more revealing is if you click on the image you will be taken to a news release from Sony Pictures Entertainment. The release announces that the Spider-Man movie franchise will expand into it’s own “universe” of movies. Writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Jeff Pinkner, Ed Solomon, and Drew Goddard will be working with producers Marc Webb, Avi Arad, and Matt Minghella to develop Venom and The Sinister Six movies.

Kurtzman, Orci, and Pinkner are already writing the screenplay for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, with Webb to direct the production starting next fall for a June 2016 release. Also, Kurtzman, Orci, and Solomon will write the screenplay for Venom for Kurtzman to direct, and Goddard will write and direct The Sinister Six.

With the additional movies being planned, and given the fact that Sony’s first four Spider-Man movies have grossed over $3.2 billion worldwide, it looks like there isn’t any chance of Marvel Entertainment reclaiming the Spider-Man movie rights and further unifiing their cinematic universe with the wall-crawler any time soon.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Paul Giamatti, Chris Cooper and Sally Field, swings into theaters on May 2, 2014.
