ARE THESE THE TOYS THAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR ?

A few days ago Steve Sansweet, a well known Star Wars fan and owner/operator of Rancho Obi-Wan, posted on his website about his collection suffering some major theft.

Apparently in February he discovered that his museum has been victimized by theft that took place over several months during late 2015 through 2016. Over 100 items were stolen, mostly vintage U.S. and foreign carded action figures, with many of them being rare and important pieces. It is estimated the stolen items are worth more than $200,000.

According to Sansweet, the theft was discovered when a couple of collectors/dealers were looking over a list of recent purchases. When they studied the quantity and quality of items on the list they came to the conclusion that the items were likely stolen from the Rancho Obi-Wan collection.

Carl Edward Cunningham, a well-known Star Wars collector and R2-D2 builder, is the person who sold the items on the list in question. He was arrested at the end of March and was charged with felony grand theft. He is currently free on bail awaiting further hearings in the case.

Sansweet asks that if you have any information about Carl Cunningham’s activities or items that he has sold please write to tips@ranchoobiwan.org.

You can find a little more information on the story, and a list of items that they are still trying to locate on the Rancho Obi-Wan website http://www.ranchoobiwan.org/.
