DC Launches Online Collectibles Store

DC (New) Direct(ion)

DC Entertainment announced that it’s merchandise arm, DC Direct, has been relaunched as DC Collectibles. The newly reorganized brand features an online store offering their entire range of products, as well as some exclusives.

“We’ve taken the past year or so to become laser focused on what makes the products in this line special, and what has emerged from that process is DC Collectibles,” stated Geoff Johns, chief creative officer for DC Entertainment. “We’re extremely proud of our line of unique, high-end collectibles, and feel that it caters to fans looking for limited edition, authentic products based on our characters and stories, created by the same artists who work directly on those characters and stories.”

The first two online exclusives will be offered in May. The first exclusive is a Flashpoint Action Figure Box Set including: Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and a previously unreleased Emperor Aquaman. The set also include a $500 Wayne Casino Poker Chip.  The second online exclusive is a Heroes of the DC Universe: Blackest Night Green Lantern and Sinestro Bust.

Comic-Con Exclusive Zoom Figure

In August, DC Direct will release a wave of four action figures, based on characters from DC’s Flashpoint comic book event. However, there will also be a Reverse Flash/Professor Zoom figure that you can only get at the San Diego Comic Con.

Zoom stands approximately 6.5” inches high, features multiple points of articulation, and includes a removable display base. The Graphitti Designs Booth (#2315) is the place to buy the limited edition Zoom figure from the DC Direct line. Assuming that somehow you were able to get tickets to actually go. And forget about helping out a friend, the Zoom figure is limited to one per person.

Comic-Con international can’t even let in everyone that wants to go, and they keep doing these exclusives that could bring in a lot more money for them if they would make it a wider release. Let Comic-Con have a limited edition numbering or something, but get these figures in the comic shops. Or, at the very least put them up for sale through the website. Let everyone have a chance to but these.

Blackest Night Figures

The Blackest Night series of toys from DC Direct continues with two more waves of action figures that were revealed recently. DC Direct continues to produce some fantastic looking figures and these next two waves look incredible.

BLACKEST NIGHT series 7 includes:

Red Lantern Mera – 6.5” h

Sinestro Corps Member Arkillo – 7.5” h

Black Lantern Superman – 6.75” h

Black Lantern Terra with Scar – 5.5” h (Terra), 4.5” h (Scar)

BLACKEST NIGHT series 8 includes:

Orange Lantern Lex Luthor – 6.75” h

Sinestro Corps Member Scarecrow – 6.5” h

Black Lantern Black Flash – 6.75” h

Indigo Tribe The Atom – 6.75” h

All of the figures feature multiple points of articulation, a display base, character-appropriate accessories, and comes in 4-color clamshell blister card packaging.

Of particular note I think are the Lex Luthor and SCarecrow figures. These two look evil.

And finally Arkillo! After Sinestro, this would of been the second figure that I would of had made after the Sinestro Corp War story was published in the Green Lantern comics. We might of had to wait a little bit, but now its finally being made.

Series 7 goes on sale November 24, 2010, and series 8 goes on sale December 8, 2010.
