Mystique Catches Fire

According to The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox is planning to push back the shooting to their sequel to X-Men: First Class to accommodate Jennifer Lawrence’s work for The Hunger Games sequel, Catching Fire. Originally the First Class sequel was to begin shooting in the fall, however, that created a conflict with Lionsgate’s Catching Fire. Lawrence has a sequel clause in her contract with 20th Century, and since she signed on with X-Men before The Hunger Games, 20th Century could have locked up the star for their movie first. However, an agreement has been reached between the two studios to alleviate any conflict.

The Matthew Vaughn directed X-Men follow-up is moving to a January 2013 start date so that they can have Lawrence back as Mystique, without getting in the way of Catching Fire‘s start in August or September, and allowing it to stay on schedule for a November 2013 release. The First Class sequel doesn’t have a release date yet.
